Waad Project is the Promise of Rebirth in Al Dahyieh Beirut

Despite all the darkness glooming over Lebanon, a new sign of hope shines from the heart of the dilapidated Dahyieh of Beirut.
The "Waad" Project (sometimes called Waad Hezbollah), a colossal plan to rebuild all that was destroyed by the Israeli strikes on Beirut, was finally launched on 24/05/07. This inspiring project was brought together by no less than 40 professionals and architects. It aims to rebuild over 250 ruined buildings, comprising around 30000 housing units in addition to 1600 businesses/shops.

The global plan will be carried out in a modern manner, based on a state of the art urbanization concept, with a stress on security, beauty of the architecture and surroundings, quality of life, and the social fabric of the quarters' residents.

The high-tech standards will also insure earthquake friendly structures.

A large pedestrian area will interweave the whole premises, to ensure a lively and warm atmosphere. This unity will also be catered for through smart landscaping, with many green public squares and children playgrounds, in addition to a memorial square where an artistic composition will stand to commemorate Lebanon's Victory against the Israeli aggressions.

The streets will be bordered by flowering trees such as the Athrina-Red, and Jakaranda trees similar to those in the Sanayeh area.

The "Waad" project is expected to begin in early June to be completed within 2 years, making Al Dahyieh one of the most well developed and neatly urbanized areas in Beirut, Lebanon.
