This comes on the heels of the November 30th, 1999 endorsement by U.N. In April 2005 , Lebanon joined more than 58 countries to endorse the Bone and joint decade. The goals of the Bone and joint Decade-Lebanon are to promote the preservation of bone and joint health across the lifespan and to improve health related quality of life for people with musculoskeletal disorder. Musculoskeletal health involves the structure and integrated function of bones and joints. Conditions affecting these areas can be debilitating and painful, having a serious impact: on physical activities, movement: and quality of life. These disorders are more common than any other long-term health problems.The aims of the Bone and joint Decade are to: Advance understanding of musculoskeletal disorders through research to improve prevention and treatment Raise awareness of the growing burden of musculoskeletal disorders of society. Empower patient to participate in their own care Promote cost-effective prevention in their careA large percentage of people in our communities do not realize that they have a choice regarding their health and wellness. Musculoskeletal diseases and disorders are on the increase and there are many reasons for this. The BJD Lebanon aims to address these issues as promoting bone and joint health. We want our people to know that health is important to us and providing them with as we can on prevention, education , access to care and research is our priority.
