It is a private secular school proclaimed by a Board of Trustees. It is financially and academically supported by the German Government. It has common relations with the BVA, the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the German Embassy. It has two main branches: a) Beirut (from KG? Grade 3)b) Doha (from KG? Grade 12) The school in Beirut is located next to the Goethe Institute. The school in Doha has a huge campus that extends up to 20,000m2. 2. School Curriculum:The school facilitates the learning of different languages, taught upon equal basis: a) German and English for KG classesb) German, English, and Arabic for grades 1 - 4.c) German, English, Arabic, and French for grades 5 - 13. All other subjects (Math, Physics, Biology etc.) are taught in English except for History, Geography and Civics, which are given in Arabic (Lebanese Program) The German language is taught as a mother language for eloquent speakers (both German and Lebanese) (starting from the Kg). It is taught as a foreign language for non-German speakers. Intensive classes are provided in Arabic and English for German students to facilitate their integration in the school curriculum. All non-German speaking teachers are given German lessons. This helps in achieving better social relations among teachers and students. The school stresses on developing and improving the usage of the German language. It also seeks to integrate the German culture. The school believes in the humanistic approach:a) All elementary students finish their work in class, no homework is assigned.b) Evaluation sheets assess the students understanding. 3. Activities:A number of outdoor activities are implemented for the sake of learning. Students learning is achieved through concrete examples. Mere memorization is not applied. The school has established a number of educational clubs that are designed to develop the students hidden skills and talents. The school provides different educational facilities for the sake of achieving constructive learning. (Computer Lab, Science Lab etc.)4. Certificates: Students of the German School attain the following certificates:a) Brevet and Lebanese Baccalureate 2.b) Das Deutsche Sprachdiplom der KMK, Stufe I und II. (Official recognition by the Conference of the Ministries of Culture in the German Counties).c) High school program for foreigners d) The English International Baccalaureate Diploma for foreigners and Lebanese students who would would like to sit for both the Lebanese and International Baccalaureates.5.
