Edma Khabbaz also known as Edma El Khabbaz is a Lebanese poet. She grew in the north of Lebanon in the town of Batroun where life is warm and peaceful.

Edma Khabbaz got married at the age of 19. She is mother of two boys, and grandmother of three children who bring Edma lots of happiness.

Her biggest sadness was the death of her great love, her husband, who left at an early age. Her greater happiness is reading, writing and gardening.

To celebrate Life, to survive day by day, despite the noise of weapons and ambient violence, to welcome the days to come, to believe in man. To persist in saying the hope with simple and touching words: it is there all the miracle of the work of poetess Edma Khabbaz, a Lebanese from Batroun, from the Phoenician port, located at the north of the Country of the cedars.

The Mediterranean sea which she loves and which has inspired her everytime.

Lebanon, since 1975, struggling with civil war, the occupation of foreign powers, the wild invasions of the adjoining countries, All this and more pushed Edma Khabbaz to get out and write beautiful poems about love and humanity. She was forced to write: “To like is to conquer”. She cries from suffering and denounce the murderers which destroyed her beautiful and peaceful country.
She also said “My Lebanon at once… You will rise with the one night old right in the middle. ” such sentences of hope resounded Edma and gave her the taste of believing in peace, in a part of the world, in the Middle East which struggles with violence without an end.
