Mohamad Iskandar also known as Mohammad Iskandar is a Lebanese singer who became popular in the early nineties.

Mohamad Iskandar was famous for his special style of singing, especially the Lebanese Hewara and other Levant folk styles.

For a few years, Mohamad Iskandar disappeared from the scene and kept a low profile until the year 2010 when he made a come-back with the song of Joumhouriyet Albi. The song was a big hit and made it into the Top Lebanese and Arab charts especially because of its controversial nature. In it, he calls on all women to stop working and take care of their men.

"Take the idea out of your head, why do you bring problems to yourself"

“We have no girls here that work with their degrees. Our girls are pampered. Everything she wants is at her service.”

“Assuming I agree that you work, what would we do about your beauty? Your job is taking care of my heart …isn’t it enough that you’re the president of the republic of my heart?”

“Your boss might fall in love and his feelings be aroused, and naturally I would go to the office and destroy the company over his head...Your job should be your love, feelings and affection towards me.”

“I respect women’s rights, but I wish you’d consider my feelings. What is this job that would separate us? Damn the money, I’ll burn it!”

Soon after, another Lebanese female singer called May Matar released a response song Metlak Mesh 3ayzin (Men Like you we don't need) in which she states women should be treated with respect and should be considered for their diplomas and education and not treated as merchandize.

Mohamad Iskandar is the father of young talented Lebanese poet Fares Iskandar.
