Rani Mukherjee is a famous Indian Actress, She is the daughter of Ram Mukherjee, who directed great films like (Leader) and (Hum Hindustani). Rani's mother used to be a playback singer and her aunt is Debashree Roy, a very well known Bengali Actress. Rani Mukherjee is also the cousin of famous star Kajol.

In the beginning, when Rani was struggling to build a career in movies, The (Kajol's cousin) Tag got stuck to her for a long time. It was very hard to establish herself especialy when she was largely viewed as an upstart who trying to do a 'me too' actress.

Her first work with producer Salim's (Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat) in the 1996 was a damp squib at the box office. Nevertheless, this low-budget-film got her some good reviews.

Great events in the life of Rani include (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) in 1998 with director Karan Johar, The second was Vikram Bhatt who cast her as the leading lady in Ghulam in 1998.

Ghulam gave Rani an instant fame and a new label when it was released. She was known as The (Aati kya Khandala Girl). Thanks to the huge success of this song and the film itself, Rani hit the big screen and found herself a chair in the indian film industry.

To top it all, came (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai), a film that had been eagerly awaited for the prospective battle of the Mukherjee cousins. While Kajol was, beyond doubt, the film's heroine, Rani too had her share of success in the supporting role of Shah Rukh's first wife, Tina.

All critics were curios to know what exactly what made Rani Mukherjee famous. It it her daring, baring clothes, her husky voice, or her talent in acting. Soon Rani became everyone's favourite star.

Kamal Haasan picked her out for his epic (Hey! Ram), Indra Kumar was begging her for dates through Amir Khan, inorder to make a guest appearance in (Mann).
