Francophone Games

The Francophone Games better known as Jeux de la Francophonie are held every four years and gather the five French speaking continents.


The Francophone Games Combine culture with sports, the event includes singing, dancing, painting, story-telling, poetry, football, judo, table tennis, basketball and boxing.

The Sixth event of its kind will be held from the 27th of September till 6th of October 2009 in Beirut, Lebanon.

The preparations for this one of its kind event started on the 28th of August in Beirut by the Lebanese Prime minister Fouad Siniora who is also President of the National Organizing Committee for the Games of La Francophonie (CNJF), and by Clément Duhaime, Director of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), during a joint press conference held in the Serail.

The idea of the event is based on the signs of solidarity, diversity, and excellence. The Francophone Games combine sports and cultural competitions. Millions of artists and athletes from around the world, give their best and express the diversity of the francophone cultures freely.
