Max Mmethi is one of the most recognizable faces on the South African fashion scene. He is also one of the few black models to become known on the Continent first and not discovered in New York or some other European fashion city.
Max Mmethi was spotted in Cape Town 2003 by a talent scout, Derick Mhlongo, who talked him into modeling. He was a permanent member for the South African Navy until 2005. He also worked as a Human Resource Manager in Pretoria until early 2007, before starting his own transport business.
Max Mmethi also works in Fashion retail. He owns his own clothes shop and also imports and supplies clothes to different boutiques in Pretoria.
Max Mmethi has extensively worked with famous local designers such as David Tlale, Gavin Radja, Crag Port, and Caducci…but also for International Brands and designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Sport Co, and Guinness Miller. Max Mmethi has also made numerous times the cover of Men Health magazine.
Max Mmethi is married and has a daughter.
