Job Title: Writer

Ghassan Jawad is a Lebanese poet, journalist, and TV personality.

Ghassan Jawad was born in southern Lebanon in 1976. He has published three books: I am your shadow (1997), Exercises on disappearing (2004) and Light between two lives (2007).

Ghassan Jawad is one of the most politically active Lebanese poets among his generation, and one of the few who turned to political journalism as a profession. He writes in the daily newspaper, Al-Liwa', and on his Facebook blog, but also worked as a political talk show host on Orbit TV. After working for 10 years at the station, he resigned in 2011 due to a political opinion conflict with the administration.

When he began his career in journalism in 1996, he was one of the few journalists who dared to criticize the 'tutelage' of Lebanon. He also participated in most of the demonstrations organized by Michel Aoun supporters and the Lebanese Forces, that called for the exit of the Syrian army from Lebanon.

Ghassan Jawad is a supporter of the Lebanese Resistance movement, which came as a natural response to the failure of the State in its responsibilities. The South of Lebanon had always been vulnerable to the Israeli greed and attacks ever since the founding of Israel, and the resistance is a self defense reaction to the aggressive acts. He believes Lebanon should uphold these weapons, because the country still has the issue of nearly 400 thousand Palestinian refugees. Lebanon's water and oil resources are also targeted by the Israeli entity.

Commenting on the situation in Syria (Syria Protests), Ghassan Jawad highlights two constituents:
A path of reform expressed by the Syrian opposition forces in the interior, which the regime has responded to rapidly.
A second entity that is following a path of "Fitna" and Divisions, which might lead to civil war. Those active in this conspiracy are mostly opposition figures stationed in western countries like the USA, which is applying pressure and specifically targeting Syrian's role as a custodian of the resistance in Palestine and Lebanon.
