Latifa Azizi

Latifa Azizi is a famous singer from Afghanistan. She became famous at the age of seventeen after taking part in the a singing talent show "Afghan star" which aired from Kabul.

Latifa sang solo in the contest and also sang few songs with some male contestants such as Sajid Hussain Janaty, also from Afghanistan.

Here fame grew world wide in the month of Januray 2013 after she claimed publicly that she received death threats because of taking part in the talent show.

While many conservatives are becoming more open minded, some people believe that it is not Islamic behavior for women to sing and perform publicly.

It is said that Latifa Azizi's family had to flee their home in 2013 after their community was outraged that an Islamic woman was performing on Television.
