Roger Moukarzel is a documentary and fashion photographer from Lebanon.

Roger Moukarzel was born in Lebanon in 1962. As a teenager, he showed great interest in war photography. Moukarzel worked for the most part of his career as a photojournalist for news agencies such as Reuters and Sygma. His photographs captured the essence of combat and the resilience of the people under the most difficult conditions.

Roger Moukarzel photographs of war and the human life have been featured in many international publications.

Moukarzel gained international fame after one of his war photographs appeared on the french magazine Paris Match during its 40th anniversary issue. His photograph showed a scene of destruction in a street in Beirut.

After spending fifteen years taking photos of war and disaster, Moukarzel decided to move into fashion photography. He wanted to shift his mind away from the pictures of death and focus more on the glamor of life and its beauty. He does portraits, fashion, advertising, architecture and interior design photo-shoots.

As a fashion photographer, Roger Moukarzel has taken photos of famous Lebanese artists such as Ragheb Alameh, Wael Kfoury, Nancy Ajram and Yara singer and Joseph Attieh.

In advertising, he shot campaigns for Aizone, Aishti, Exotica, Crepaway, PEPSI, and ABC.

In the year 2007, Moukarzel did an exposition of his work at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, entitled 'Le Voile' or Veil(Rihla Fi Tarikh Al Hijab).

In December 2010, photographer Roger Moukarzel held a photo exhibition entitled (Jamal) at The Venue Beirut Souks. Prime Minister Saad Hariri among other celebrities from Lebanon attended the expo. The gallery showcased oriental faces in arabesque frames, mostly in large formats.

His photographs have been showcased in many other exhibitions throughout the world. He has also received numerous awards for his advertising work.

He has also published a few books, including Wadi Qadisha (Aleph), traitportrait (self-published) as well as Green Gold (Turning Point)and Creative Lives by author Sierra Prasada.

Roger Moukarzel currently lives in Beirut with his wife and daughter. He works under a photography production house called minime, with two other photographers Steve Kozman and Elie Abi Hanna.
